Something for the weekend

Something for the weekend #4

I really hope you’re having a great weekend – I certainly am. Rachel and George are in town, which has meant lots of talking, playing and generally gadding about town. We sipped delicious (decaf) coffee in Fig & Sparrow and had a few (strong) cocktails on Friday,  then hit up a new-ish and visually spectacular Thai restaurant for lunch on Saturday and walked around in matching jackets throughout.

All this fun-having means the weekend has flown by and Monday will be in my face before I know it. However, I’ve still got time to play a good game of netball, paint my nails and plan what on earth I’m going to watch this evening now that Our Girl  has finished. I’m really into having a Sunday-evening show I can look forward to that acts as a sort of full-stop to the weekend – recent faves have included Parade’s End, The Village and The Crimson Field.  Got a suggestion for me?  Leave a comment below. In the meantime, here’s where my head’s been at this past week:

1. How to Get Away with Murder finally made it to UK TV and I could not be happier.  The first episode was everything you would expect from a Shondaland production and so much more besides. Is anyone else watching it?

2. Oh, how I laughed at The Chinese Guide to Avoiding a Bad English Name.

3.  Kendi wore a very pretty pink coat.

4. My lovely friend, Emma, was shortlisted for an award and I am so proud of her.

5. ‘Who even knew hamburgers could be sexy?  I mean, I’m a vegetarian, for God’s sake!’ – Hadley Freeman lays it down on on Halloween costumes.

6. I always enjoy some North West.

7. In a move that is completely out of character, I got really into this song. I’m not inviting comments on this point.

8. I read a couple of different posts about linen towels and am now coveting these ones big time. I think they’ll be especially good for taking to the gym (the ‘with towels’ membership was an extra £9 a month – errrrrrrr, no thanks).

9. Did you see Richard Ayoade on Channel 4 News?  If not, watch his interview here.

This week on Everyday30 there was me talking about the timelessness and utility of a good trench coat, Nicky sharing some valuable life learnings from the other side of 30, and Rachel showing us how Pinterest introduced her to some recipes you can really rely on (super-soft chocolate chip cookies are top of my to-cook list).

Thanks for all your comments on Everyday30 over the past few weeks, and please keep them coming. The blog was one month old on Thursday and we’re really keen to hear what you think of it so far.

Which posts have you liked? Did anything make you laugh? Have we given you any good ideas? Have you tried out any of our recipes or tips? We’d really love you to tell us by leaving a comment below.

Ha! So happy to have found some people who were watching it and loving it as much as I was! You know, I recorded it and watched back and missed the very last seen when she comes back. It was on AFTER the credits though, who watches through to after the credits? Stupid BBC.
