We’re thrilled to announce the arrival of Thomas Alfred, born at home on Monday 3rd August, weighing 8.5lbs. The first week has certainly been a challenge: I’d forgotten how powerful all these new hormones can be and how sore everything feels. Thankfully, my wonderful mum came to stay with us for a week to cook, clean, cuddle Thomas and – crucially – entertain George. One week on, I’m starting to feel a bit more human, and we’re planning our first outing today – just a walk up the road for lunch, mind you, nothing too exciting.
So far, George has been very sweet to his brother, giving him lots of (no doubt germ-filled) kisses and cuddles and depositing at least one toy at a time into his Moses basket.
Pete is a teacher so we’re lucky to have another three weeks together before he goes back to work – we’re planning to take things very easy and get used to being a family of four!
P.S. How to survive the first three months of parenthood, seven questions NOT to ask a new mother and why you should get in the bath with your baby.
