Your favourites posts in 2014

Favourite blog posts 2014Blogging is a funny old thing isn’t it? You start off writing very much for yourself and all the blogging advice out there encourages you to stick to what you’re really passionate about. I totally agree with this; not only is it easier to write about what you love, but I think it really shows through in the quality of the content. On the other hand, I think it’s really important to take on board the reactions of your audience. What has struck a chord? What are people enjoying?

We’ve loved finding out which posts have been most popular this year – here’s a look back at the top 10. I’m glad to say most of my favourites are in there.

1. 7 questions NOT to ask a new mother

It’s easy to see why this post resonated with so many people – including me. I was so sensitive as a new mother – questions one and two in particular were guaranteed to send me over the edge!

2. How to survive the first three months of parenthood

Ah! Those first few months…so bloody hard! I love Nicky’s honest and practical advice for how to survive them.

3. 10 things I’ve learnt since turning 30

I found myself nodding along to  every point in this post about navigating your thirties – but I particularly agree with numbers one, seven and nine.

4. Healthy breakfast pancakes

Feeding George is a real struggle at the moment, so these pancakes regularly come in handy as a way to sneak vegetables into him (and myself!). Don’t worry, you’d never know they were healthy.

5. 5 awesome 30th birthday gift ideas

I’ve attended a LOT of 30th birthdays this year – here’s my hard-won advice for buying your friends fabulous presents.

6. I’ll do that when I’m thin

I thought Rose was very brave to write this powerfully frank post and everyone should read it. We’d love to hear what you thought of it.

7. Soap & Glory’s face brush: brilliant for spot-prone skin

This bargainous face brush was a great find by Nicky – a budget alternative to the Clarisonic at just £6.50!

8. Friendship lessons from my favourite TV females

I always have time for what Rose has to say about TV – especially if it involves the Gilmore Girls. Here, she explains what some of her favourite TV characters have taught her about friendship.

9. What is giving birth really like?

I can’t resist a good birth story 🙂 Nicky shares the preparations she made, the expectations she had, and what really happened…

10. What happened when I stopped washing my hair

I’ve been on the once-weekly hair-washing bandwagon for a long time now, but I know how unthinkable the prospect was for Rose, so I enjoyed reading about her experience.
