Rachel’s (very short) Christmas wish list

December 10, 2014

I’m a bit of a Scrooge at Christmas. I love Christmas; I just hate buying Christmas presents. I think when you’re having to buy so many presents at once, you inevitably end up buying tat for some people, or stuff that they don’t like or won’t use. Thankfully, for some years now, I’ve had an agreement with my siblings and my boyfriend not to do Christmas presents at all. It’s great! It means we’re free to enjoy all the fun of Christmas without the stress of present buying.

The reality is, there’s rarely much that I actually want for Christmas. These days, if there’s something I really want, I just buy it – and at the moment I’m trying to cut down on what I buy as it is. Having said that, there are a few things that I still have my eye on…

Rachel's Christmas wishlist

For example, I will never say no to new underwear. Whether (and to whom) you feel comfortable giving underwear as a present is up to you to decide. Obviously, lingerie from a boyfriend makes a great gift; I would also feel fine giving my sister some nice new knickers from M&S – but I might draw the line at gifting underwear to my friends. Failing actual underwear, a Bravissimo voucher is always much appreciated in my book.

Similarly, I think new pyjamas are a must at Christmas – after all, what better day is there for sitting around in your PJs? I’ve got my eye on this pair from ASOS.

I’ve been resisting the urge to buy this Christmas jumper, but I think it would look very sweet on Christmas Day.

As someone who is perpetually underdressed for the British weather, this scarf would be perfect for keeping me warm.

My mum (who is the best gift-giver ever) always fills a bag full of ‘bits’ for me and my siblings – mine usually includes a huge bottle of Lush shower gel and some goodies from the The Body Shop. This year, I’ll be requesting this amazing cleansing balm, this Vitamin C microdermabrasion scrub and a new nail varnish.

If you’re really stuck for what to buy someone, my fail-safe option is a subscription. You can get great deals on magazine subscriptions at this time of year, and signing up to Olive and Delicious usually gets you a free cookery book into the bargain. For coffee lovers, there are also loads of coffee subscriptions available.

What have you got your eye on this year for Christmas, for yourself or someone else?

I can definitely attest that a Bravissimo voucher is a GREAT present 🙂
Also, obsessed with that Rimmel Salon Pro nail varnish – have about four shades and they’re all fantastic xo

Subscriptions are a great idea – I’d LOVE for someone to get me one for this, it sounds fab http://notanotherbill.com/ but a little on the pricey side… and it’s definitely shaping up to be more of an ‘economy Christmas’ this year 😉
