Soap & Glory’s face brush: brilliant for spot-prone skin

Soap & Glory's A Brush with Greatness face brush | Everyday30

Before I begin waxing lyrical about the wonders of face brushes, let me put my discovery of them into context. Since adolescence, I’ve been waging nightly battles with my acne-riddled skin, trying out myriad face washes, cleansers, toners and treatments (all to no avail), and regularly breaking the cardinal rule of No Picking (I know, it’s gross – but it’s as addictive as crack. Are you with me?)

The only periods of my life when my skin hasn’t been a source of anxiety have been when I was taking the Pill, and when I was pregnant and then breastfeeding. Now that those wonderful pregnancy hormones have left my system, I’ve been reminded of my skin’s natural state: dull and greasy, full of blackheads and prone to spot breakouts. Sadly, now I have a baby, I have even less time and energy to dedicate to my skin’s upkeep.

So a few weeks ago, in Boots, on a vague mission to find new weapons for the fight against bad skin, I came across Soap & Glory’s A Brush With Greatness exfoliating face brush.  I’ve been completely won over by it: every morning in the shower, I add a dot of facewash to the brush and give my face a good scrub, then I use the rubber bristles on the other side to ‘massage’ my skin. Afterwards, my skin feels tight (in a good way) and squeaky clean, and it drinks up moisturiser. I’ve also noticed that my pores seem less clogged up than before, and the surface of my skin feels less bumpy, which in turn makes it less tempting to pick at. The result: fewer spots.

Now, I wouldn’t exactly say I’m ready for my close-up – my skin is still pretty iffy. But it’s definitely improved since I began this new ritual. And at just £6.50, this buffer sells skin confidence that’s within everyone’s financial reach. I also think that the powers of this brush transcend skin type; whether you have oily skin or not, everyone’s face could probably benefit from a wake-up buff.

There are plenty of whizz-bang electric face brushes on the market at the moment – I’ve been intrigued by this posh bit of kit from Clinique, this ‘cleansing system’ by Olay, as well as this award-winning gadget by Clarisonic. But they require quite a hefty investment compared to the simplicity of Soap & Glory’s product. So I’ll be persevering with theirs for the foreseeable and hoping it helps me to keep my skin under control. In the meantime, I’d love to get your opinions on other face brushes out there, and to hear your spot-busting beauty tips in general. Radiant skin will be mine one day!

Do you use a face brush – which one? What’s your secret to clear skin?

Who knew we’d have to contend with spots in our thirties?? This will definitely be going on the shopping list! I’ve just discovered Soap & Glory, but I’m really loving their products.

Love the look of this – I’ve been wanting a Clarisonic for ages but it’s way beyond my price range.

    Loving the blog ladies.
